Day 1: Brand New Identity Screen Printing & Fabric Stamping Every great designer starts with a "logo." Today, we’ll explore Screen Printing and Block Printing specifically for fabric. Students will design their own stamps or stencils to create repeating patterns on their base piece (tote bag, bandana, or apron). We’ll learn how to "heat set" our designs so they stay vibrant even after a trip through the washing machine!
Day 2: Texture & "Pops" of Color Needle Felting & Fabric Markers Time to add some 3D magic! We will introduce Needle Felting (with safety guards for our younger designers) to create fuzzy, textured shapes like hearts, stars, or clouds directly onto our fabric. For the finer details—like names, outlines, or tiny doodles—we’ll use professional fabric markers to make our designs "pop" against the colorful backgrounds we made yesterday.
Day 3: The "Bling" Factor Beading & Simple Embroidery Today is all about the details! We’re moving into embellishment. Students will learn a simple "running stitch" for basic embroidery and how to securely sew on beads, sequins, and buttons. The bedazzler will be brought out for extra fun! This is great for fine motor skills! We’ll focus on adding "focal points"—maybe a beaded border on a tote bag strap or a shimmering sequin sun on a bandana.
Day 4: The Runway Reveal Final Touches & Fashion Walk In our final session, we’ll finish up any loose threads and add any last-minute "flair." Once our wearable masterpieces are complete, we’ll transform the classroom into a Designer’s Runway! Each student will have the chance to "model" their creation and explain the techniques they used—from the fuzzy felt to the shiny beads—sharing their unique style with the group.
