Miss Ruthie will teach students the basics of hand-building with clay. Students will learn simple techniques in slab-building and/or coil-building to create your box. Then, we will use sculpting techniques to create our tiny charms. In the last couple weeks we will take the tiny charms we’ve created into whimsical, wearable jewelry. Students will learn how to use a variety of clay tools; how to apply different finishes to clay surfaces; and gain an understanding of clay and its properties. Each student will make several projects throughout this 6-week course, and will glaze as we go.
