Create and Chill: Relaxing Watercolor Practice for Beginners
3 hours @ $45
Ages: 13+/Adult party night
Have you wanted to try a new medium, but are afraid to invest in new materials? Here’s a chance to practice without the commitment. Come hang out with Miss Ruthie and experiment, practice, and play with watercolor. Let’s slow down and practice this medium together. Each student will get a large sheet of watercolor paper for your experiments and practice. This session will start with discussion of our goals with watercolor, and maybe some exercises together. Then, we will open up class to practice on your own. This class is meant for friends who would like to relax and try something new. No specific end goal/product, but more so for experimenting and enjoying the process. Students will leave with the knowledge they gain through playing and experimentation, which most of us don’t really make the time to do. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to the class and relax while making art.
Paint Your Pet
$35/ 3 hours
ages 10+
Bring your furry (or feathery!) friend to life in this fun, guided Paint Your Pet class. Using a photo of your pet, you’ll be led step-by-step to create a personalized portrait—no painting experience needed. All supplies are provided, and you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind artwork that captures your pet’s unique personality!
Exploring Expressionism
$84/student for 3 weeks
High school through Adult level classes
This is a 3 weeks class held on Tuesday eveings.
An introduction to Expressionism, focusing on automatic drawing, purposeful distortion, emotion-driven color, and dynamic paint application. This energetic and intuitive style encourages you to tap into your inner voice and break through traditional barriers of communication within the elements of art. Expressionism is an introspective practice—less about realism and convention, and more about conveying a powerful personal message. It’s an excellent opportunity to experiment, expand your style, and enrich your portfolio.
Because Expressionist work is often fast and spontaneous, paper, canvas, or alternative 2D surfaces all work beautifully. Mixed media is highly encouraged. Artists of all experience levels are welcome to explore.
Students only need to bring their own materials and are encourage to talk, ask questions, and participate in group discussions. Sharing ideas is a fantastic way to problem-solve and shorten the learning curve!
Create and Chill: Relaxing Gouache Practice for Beginners
3 hours @ $45
Miss Ruthie will teach students how to create these flower-shaped bee cups for your garden. Students will learn simple hand-building and pinch pot techniques, how to use a variety of clay tools, and gain an understanding of clay and its properties. Each student will make as many bee cups as time allows in class, and will decorate and glaze that night to be ready for a once-fire. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to the class and relax while making art.
Bob Ross Paint-A-Long
3 hour class @ $60
Ages: 14+
Come and join Ms. Ruthie and paint-a-long with Mr. Bob! This is a fun class for all skill levels. Each class is limited to students. We will cue up an episode of The Joy of Painting and start and stop the episode while we paint along with Bob. All materials are included for this 3 hour session.
6 week Watercolor Course
2 hours/ 6 weeks @ $160

Can you imagine creating new universes with watercolor? In this 6-week watercolor course Miss Ruthie will instruct students who are beginners with watercolor. Students will learn all about the medium and how to use it step by step in fun ways to create unimaginable results. Students will learn and use a variety of watercolor supplies and materials. Students will explore many watercolor techniques, work on their technical art skills like brush precision and pressure, blending and transparency, color theory, etc. Using the techniques and skills learned through studies and technical drills, students will create a final watercolor piece by the end of the course.
6 week Watercolor Course
2 hours/ 6 weeks @ $160
Wednesdays, 6pm-8pm

Basic Impressionism
$84/student for 3 weeks - Tuesday evenings

This 3 week painting course is focused on exploring light, color interaction, and optical mixing.
We’ll discuss and examine the artistic revolution sparked by the Impressionists, diving into color theory and the ways light transforms everyday scenes as captured by the era’s most influential painters. Together, we’ll review ten essential principles of Impressionist technique and create artworks from still lifes and photographs, interpreting each scene with a fresh, contemporary perspective.
Artists of all experience levels—from beginners to advanced painters—are welcome.
Students should bring their own painting materials and are encouraged to participate, ask questions, and join group conversations. Sharing ideas is one of the best ways to problem-solve and accelerate your learning!
Bob Ross Paint-A-Long
3 hour class @ $60
Ages: 14+

6 Week Beginner Gouache Course

Have you wanted to try a new medium, but are afraid to invest in new materials? Here’s a chance to begin your practice. In this 6-week gouache course Miss Ruthie will instruct students who are beginners with gouache. Gouache is an opaque, water-based medium that is made up of gum arabic, water, and pigment. The best thing about gouache is that it’s highly pigmented and dries to a beautiful matte, velvet-like texture. Students will learn and use a variety of gouache supplies and materials.
